DSM & Humboldt Subatomic

Subatomic from DSM & Humboldt is a cascading 2-channel CMOS bass preamp with a variety of features for preserving the character of your bass while taking your tone beyond the ordinary. Both channels have their own set of controls, each of which is crafted to give you the tools for sculpting your sound in two discrete stages. The first is the Clean channel, which focuses primarily on preamplification and tone shaping via the two intuitive controls, Level and Tone. The Tone knob is bipolar, giving you access to a tilt EQ for both treble boosts / bass cuts, and vice versa. The magic begins when blending your clean signal with the second saturation channel, Subatomic. The signal path starts at the Drive Voice switch, which allows you to set a general EQ shape before hitting the later distortion circuits. There are three main voicings: Flat for preserving as much of your original sound as possible, Treble Boost for giving extra definition to your attack, and Mid Boost for a smoother, more focused sound. Shape your sound even further with the Subatomic Channel's EQ section, giving you access to a three-band passive EQ for boosting and cutting frequencies below 200Hz, mids around 500Hz, and all high frequencies above 2kHz.

Set your drive sounds to your exact needs with both the Level and Drive knobs, allowing you to maintain the perfect gain staging from the jump. The Blend knob contains some very clever routing to get the most out of your sound, allowing you to blend the sub frequencies of the Clean Channel and the saturated tones of the Subatomic channel. Additionally, the Sub LPF control gives you the ability to easily roll off any unwanted sub frequencies from your clean signal with the three-position switch.

Take your pedal board even further with the dedicated FX send and return jacks, which allow you to seamlessly integrate the Subatomic into your arsenal of pedals. On top of that, the XLR DI output saves you the time and money of investing in a dedicated DI box. This XLR output comes equipped with its own 8x10 cabinet simulation, which can of course be switched off if you so choose.
