Gibson A-2 Carved Top Mandolin (1922) Ser. #70608, Original Pickguard and Hard Case USED

Displayed is a great 1922 Gibson A Mandolin, (Serial #70608 FON 11699) If you are looking for a loud and clear playing mandolin, this is your mandolin. It is an "A" Style, and does not have the pearl logo. It shows some scratches in the headstock and body along with wear on the back of the neck adding character to the 103-year-old instrument. It has the Gibson label inside and, importantly, it has the adjustable truss rod. This lets you set the mandolin up for your local climate and allows you change it easily if needed. The neck is straight as it is.

1922 is the beginning of the Loar improvements to the mandolin such as the adjustable truss rod (in working condition) and adjustable bridge. You have the slightly wider paddle peghead neck. Plays smoothly with excellent volume and tone. Black top finish and brown back and sides. The hardware is original, with the original pickguard. It comes with the original hardshell case with a beautiful green fabric interior. A strap pin hole is provided but there is no strap pin at the bottom of the body.

This is a great example of a 1922 Gibson Mandolin for a reasonable price. Get into the Gibson game and understand why these historic mandolins have the reputation that they do!
